Every digging job requires a call to Iowa One Call, by calling 811 or (800) 292-8989, to have underground lines located.  It doesn't matter the size of the project, if you're planning any of the following you need to call:

• Planting trees or hedges
• Digging ponds or garden water features
• Installing a fence or mailbox
• Serious building projects, like building a deck.
• Working with concrete
• Other excavation work

When you "dial 811" 48-hours prior to your project, all utility lines will be located at the job site.  Remember that private lines, such as an underground service between a barn and grain dryer, are not located.  If you have private lines, it is your responsibility to hire a contractor to locate the lines.
