Youth Tour Winner
Macy Lanser is Pella Cooperative Electric’s 2013 Youth Tour participant. She will enjoy an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. from June 14 – 20.
Every year, Pella Cooperative Electric has the opportunity to send a high school student from our membership to experience Washington D.C. with other Iowa high school co-op members. The cooperative believes that one of the greatest investments in our future is to educate the young people in our communities through programs like Youth Tour.
Macy Lanser has been selected as Pella Cooperative Electric’s 2013 Youth Tour participant. Never having been to D.C. before, she’s very excited to attend the trip this month.
“I have actually never been to Washington D.C. so this trip is going to be an exciting new experience. I have also never been on a trip without someone in my family going with me so I am excited to break away and experience some things on my own. I am also excited that I am going to be meeting new people that are going along as well!” she said.
Macy will take off with 33 other Iowa co-op high schoolers on June 14 to join over 1,500 other high schoolers from electric cooperatives across the nation. Macy will get to visit the World War II Memorial, the Washington Monument, the White House, Pentagon and much more.
“I am most excited to experience the Smithsonian Museum in Washington. I have seen it in several movies and have heard about it from several of my friends and I have been told it is an interesting place. I really enjoy museums and learning about culture in our country,” Macy commented.
The Youth Tour group will be tweeting, posting on Facebook and blogging during their trip. Follow them on their trip!
